How Not To Organize The Home Documents!

I knew that I should use my file cabinet for important papers. I have a very nice file cabinet in my home. But I never made time to create my folders and organize all my documents. But this was not a problem, or so I thought.

Everything, birth certificates, automobile titles, the deed to our home, vaccination certificates, all were in a box so I knew where they were. The box was a brightly colored purple Barbie doll house box. Due to its uniqueness I could find it easily when I needed my important home documents.

One day my husband and kids decided to clean and organize the home. He was tired of the clutter. So they threw out lots of clutter. This included the Barbie doll box which looked to them like just an old box with old papers in it.

I am still replacing my home documents as we need them.

Helping My Son To Organize The Home

My 10 year old son had hundreds of baseball cards that he kept in a shoe box. If the box tipped over the cards would fall out. It felt as if there were cards all over my home. One day, I was so frustrated when the cards fell onto the floor that I threw them away. I did not know that some of the cards were rare and worth a lot of money. In fact, some kids have sold their cards and made enough money to go to college. I felt awful when I found out the high value of the cards that I had disposed of. So I bought my son a binder to organize his future card purchases in. There are no longer cards landing on the floor which is keeping his investment in good condition. And he is able to keep the cards organized without my help!

This is a rather tragic story. A close friend of mine had a very cluttered home and would not accept help to organize and clean it up. She managed to keep the living room and kitchen rather put together, but the rest of the home had a lot of her belongings piled up. One day she came home to a house fire. The firemen were not able to walk through the cluttered areas since that is against their safety regulations.
