I Finally Decided To Organize The Garage
We have a three car garage. But we never used it for our cars. The
garage was filled with extra furniture, half finished projects, and
items we are storing for other people. One day a large storm came
through our area. It was the storm of the century. The hail damage was
severe, destroying home roofs, siding, and yes, car bodies. Our two
vehicles were deeply pock marked by the hail.
It only took an afternoon to organize the garage. We made it a family
event with a barbecue and door prizes. We gave away the extra items we
no longer intended to store. And now our cars are safely parked in the
garage during storms.
Vicki's Story
Unexpected Reason To Organize The Garage
My son, as he grew older, began to work on cars. I resisted this
serious hobby of his. I had dreams of a son in a business suit. One day,
I discovered to my horror, that he was working on car parts in his
bedroom. The carpet was ruined!
I called my sister to cry. She gently helped me to see that my son's
talent was valuable, an asset to him. I decided to support this interest
of his. I asked my brother to help me organize a work area for my son in
the garage. We installed hooks, shelving, even a work bench on one side
of the garage. I upgraded the electricity so my son could use his power
tools. I am so glad I decided to organize the garage for my son.
I am very proud of my son these days. He is in college. The skills he
learned working on cars in the garage has made him a better student, and
helped him to choose a major he can excel at.
Most importantly, the support I gave my son was the catalyst for
improved communication between us. Had I continued to fight how he
desired to use his talents, I would not have been able to enjoy time
with my son as I have.
My son's work area in the garage is ready for him to use whenever he
visits his home.
Susie's Story
We Found A Treasure When We Decided To Organize The Garage
We clean and organize our garage every spring. The gravel, dirt, and
salt brought in from the winter roads are cleaned out. Our clean garage
is a pleasant staging area for many of our summer games.
Our calico cat Patches is the heroine of our garage organize story.
Patches is my daughter's cat. Patches came to us as a rescue cat. We
immediately fell in love with this purrfect kitty. We discovered soon
after adopting her that she was pregnant. We prepared a special bed for
her to have her kittens in.
Shortly before she was due to deliver she went missing. We were
heartbroken. We searched for her for days. All we could do was wait for
a phone call or word that she had been found.
She had been missing a week when the day came to organize and clean
our garage. We decided to keep to the schedule.
We had boxes stacked on one side of the garage waiting to be torn
down and tied together so our recycling service could take them. To our
amazement we discovered Patches with seven kittens inside one of the
bottom boxes.
Tina's Story
I finally owned a car. It was used but it was mine. I did not learn
how to take care of my car. The oil ran out, and that was the end of my
car.
I bought a new car. I organized my garage so there was room for the
car in the garage. I used my planner to schedule regular maintenance for
my car. I still have my car.
